1. Who provides the service#
The service "StopCatfish" is provided by StopCatfish Tecnologia Ltda. (company registration: 00.000.000/0001-00). [LEGAL REVIEW] By using the site you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility#
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. The service is not for minors, and you must never upload a photo of a minor.
3. Acceptable use#
You may upload only an image of yourself, or an image of a person who has given you explicit authorization, and everyone in it must be 18 or older. Before each upload you must declare this and consent to the biometric processing described in the Privacy Policy. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, WEBP, up to 15 MB.
Prohibited uses
- Identifying or locating strangers or anyone who has not authorized the search.
- Stalking, harassment, intimidation, blackmail or exposing anyone.
- Uploading images of minors, or any content involving people under 18.
- Uploading nudity or sexual content. To look for leaked intimate photos, upload a photo of your face.
- Uploading images you do not own and are not authorized to use.
- Scraping, automated access, reverse engineering or reselling the service or its results.
- Attempting to bypass the consent step, usage limits or security controls.
- Any use that violates applicable law or the rights of others.
Zero tolerance for content involving minors
We never accept images of children or teenagers, or any content involving people under 18. A photo showing a possible minor is refused and discarded without being stored, and we record the incident with the image's fingerprint (hashes), the IP address, the email and the time. Two such incidents on the same account permanently block that account and its email; incidents without an account are reviewed by our team, which may block the email and access. We cooperate with the authorities: where there are signs of child sexual abuse or exploitation, we report the case to NCMEC (for traffic from the United States) and to SaferNet Brasil and the Federal Police in Brazil, and we answer lawful requests. Automated screening of photos
Before any search, every photo goes through an automated check: a model estimates the age of each face and a classifier detects nudity or explicit sexual content. The photo is refused if any face appears to be under 21 (a safety margin over 18), if the estimate is not reliable, if the content is explicit or if there is no face. The check is automated and can be wrong; if that happens, upload another clear photo showing only your face. Refused photos are not stored and nothing is charged. To ask for a refusal to be reviewed, write to suporte@stopcatfish.com; since the photo is not kept, the review uses the incident record. [LEGAL REVIEW]
4. Credits and payment#
You see how many matches were found before paying, and nothing is charged if there are none. The full report, with links and a removal roadmap, is unlocked with credits. 1 credit unlocks 1 report. Credits are sold in packs: 1 credit ($9.90 / €9.90), 3 credits ($19.90 / €19.90) or 10 credits ($44.90 / €44.90). There is no subscription.
- Credits do not expire.
- Credits belong to your account and cannot be transferred or sold.
- Once a credit is spent on a report, it is not refundable.
- A search with zero matches never costs a credit.
- The unlocked report stays available in your account for as long as the scan data is retained, and at least 24 hours after you unlock it.
Payments are processed by CommerceGate: by card for USD and EUR, or by PIX for BRL (Brazil). If the search finds no matches, there is no report to unlock and no credit is used. If we cannot deliver a report you unlocked, we give the credit back or refund the amount.
5. Right of withdrawal and refunds#
If you are a consumer in the EU, you generally have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content supplied immediately, you lose that right once delivery has begun, if you gave your prior express consent to immediate delivery and acknowledged that you lose the right of withdrawal. Unused credits can be refunded on request within 7 days of purchase: write to suporte@stopcatfish.com from your account email. Credits already spent on a report are not refundable. If something went wrong with your purchase, write to us too; we review each request and refund where required by law or where we cannot deliver the report. [LEGAL REVIEW]
6. Referral program#
Every account with a confirmed email gets a referral link. When someone opens that link, creates a new account and makes a first confirmed purchase, the referrer earns bonus credits under the conditions below. - The bonus only applies to new accounts created after opening the link. The link is remembered on the referred person's device for up to 30 days, and each account can be linked to one referral, once.
- The bonus is credited only after the referred person's first PIX purchase is confirmed. Card purchases earn no bonus, signing up without buying earns nothing, and accounts used on the same device or network as the referrer's don't count.
- If that purchase is refunded, cancelled or charged back, the bonus is cancelled and the matching credits are taken back from the referrer's balance, up to the balance available.
- There is a monthly limit of bonuses per person. Purchases above the limit earn no bonus.
- Referring yourself (another account or another email of yours) does not count.
- Promoting the link by spam, in paid ads that use the StopCatfish name (including bidding on brand keywords) or with misleading claims about the service is prohibited. In case of fraud or breach of these rules we may cancel bonuses, take back bonus credits and remove the person from the program.
- Bonus credits follow the rules of all credits (section 4): they do not expire and cannot be transferred or sold. Since they were not paid for, they are not refundable in money.
- The referrer only sees numbers (how many people signed up, how many bought and the credits earned), never the name or email of the people they referred.
- We may change or end the program at any time, with notice on this page; bonuses already credited are kept.
7. What we do not guarantee#
The search covers publicly accessible web pages that we are able to compare. We do not guarantee that every occurrence of an image will be found, that a result is accurate or still online, or that a match is the same person. Visual matches can be wrong; do not treat them as proof of identity. We do not remove third-party content; the removal roadmap guides requests that you make yourself.
8. Demo mode#
When the site shows the banner DEMO MODE: FICTITIOUS DATA, all numbers, previews, links and payment codes are fictitious, do not correspond to real images and do not generate charges.
9. Limitation of liability#
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the content of third-party pages, for misuse of the service in breach of these Terms, or for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the credits used on the affected report. 10. Suspension#
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaches these Terms, especially section 3, and cooperate with authorities when the law requires. Blocking the email and the account after incidents involving a possible minor is automatic (section 3).
11. Changes#
We may update these Terms. The update date is shown at the top of the page, and material changes will be announced in the service.
12. Governing law and disputes#
